Why I Swapped Ping Shuai Gong for Standing Meditation This Winter

I used to practice Ping Shuai Gong(平甩功), but I found it pretty frustrating in the winter. For one, my hands would get freezing cold while swinging them through the air. Plus, even if I wore a winter coat, the bulkiness would get in the way and my arms would constantly rub against the fabric.

Recently, I discovered Zhan Zhuang(站椿), or 'Standing Meditation,' and it’s perfect for me. You basically just stand still like a post with your knees slightly bent and your arms raised as if you’re hugging a large tree.

That’s it. It’s so simple! After about 10 minutes, my frozen hands start to warm up, and by the 30-minute mark, even my feet feel a bit warm. I know it’s because Zhan Zhuang promotes Qi flow throughout the body. It’s honestly amazing and so relaxing. I looked it up online and saw that a lot of people are doing this now; most of them have had great results, like boosting their energy and reducing fatigue.
