Think Twice Before Speaking

Last night I put up a new clock on the wall, but one of my family members said I should move it to the other side. I did, but then I noticed she had to twist her neck to see the time. I suggested putting it over by the TV so she wouldn’t have to turn her head, but she said it was fine.

I kept insisting it would be easier for her. I think I mentioned it like three times and that’s when she lost her cool. I didn’t get why she got so mad all of a sudden, so I blurted out, “You’re really not easy to get along with.” She immediately blew up and told me not to judge her.

I apologized right away. I realized I shouldn’t have been so judgmental and that I’d forgotten how easily she gets irritated. I just let her vent and scold me without clapping back. I’ve been practicing the “Let Them” theory, so I just let her release her frustration. I can’t control her only myself. It’s really not worth the energy to argue.

Honestly, handling it that way made me feel a lot better. It was also a good reminder to think twice before speaking, not judge people so quickly, and not be so insistent about things.
