The Bamboo Lesson

There was a man who planted a bamboo seed in his backyard.

Every day, he watered it carefully.

Weeks passed. Nothing happened.

Months passed. Still nothing.

Year one, no bamboo.

Year two, nothing.

Year three, still nothing.

Many people would have given up. But the man kept watering the soil, believing something was happening underground.

Then, in the fifth year, something amazing happened.

The bamboo suddenly grew...

not a few centimeters,

but over 90 feet in just a few weeks.

You see, during those first five years, the bamboo wasn’t doing nothing.

It was growing strong roots underground---deep and wide---so it could support its incredible height later.

If it had grown too fast without strong roots, it would have fallen.

Sometimes, progress is invisible.

Just because you don’t see results doesn’t mean nothing is happening.

You might be learning.

You might be growing.

You might be building strength inside.

So don’t give up too early.

Your moment of growth may come suddenly---just like the bamboo.
