People I Want to Thank

Today I want to express my appreciation for someone who inspires me to practice my English.

I actually don’t need to use English in my daily life---whether at work or at home. I’m just genuinely interested in the language. So basically, I’ve only been listening to and reading English, but I never practiced speaking. And because of that, for so many years, I still couldn’t speak English fluently.

Then last week, I accidentally came across a girl on Threads who uses the nickname “be my satellite.” She’s practicing speaking English for TOEFL, so she records her practice videos and uploads them every single day. I think her English is amazing. She speaks fluent English and sounds so American. But what impressed me the most is her consistency.

That really inspired me. It made me think, “Maybe I can practice English the same way. It could actually be fun, right?” And that’s how I started this journey of practicing my English.

Even though my English is still limited and I make a lot of grammar and pronunciation mistakes, who cares? I’m having so much fun doing this. So I want to thank her for being such an inspiration.

I also want to appreciate Chloe. She’s my online friend and an English teacher who has been giving me a lot of encouragement. She even told me I’m doing a great job and that my English is better than the average Taiwanese people. Wow such a pep talk made me feel really flattered.

Maybe she was just being polite, but still, it motivated me to keep going. So I want to say thank you to Chloe as well.

Finally, I want to thank another English teacher I met on Threads---she’s 張靜靜. She praised my English practice and encouraged me to keep going, and I’m really grateful for that.
