After a week of exploring different audio podcasts to see what fits me, I finally found one.
Actually, I had already found a favorite before, but while I was enjoying it, I accidentally came across some comments on the download page. People were saying it was piracy.
I was completely shocked! How could it be piracy? I always thought all those audio dramas on the Internet Archive were public domain and free to download.
So I googled around and asked people online, and then I realized that a lot of stuff on the Internet Archive is still under copyright.
That really scared me off from downloading or listening to them. Sure, I could download them secretly and nobody would ever know, but I just can’t do that morally. It feels like stealing, especially when some of those shows are still being sold on Amazon.
So I spent a whole week looking for other audio dramas that suit me, but honestly, I just couldn’t find any. Most are too long, have weak plots, or have bad audio quality. None of them come close to the one I loved---which turns out to be pirated on the Internet Archive.
I did find some horror audio dramas and got really excited, but the shouting and crying in them made me super nervous and unsettled.
So I quit the horror type.
Then I tried some self-growth or psychological podcasts, but I got bored really fast---they even made me sleepy.
In the end, I finally found something that works for me: story-telling podcasts where people share real experiences from their lives. They might not be as dramatic as audio dramas, but I’m actually interested in real-life stories.
Hopefully this time I can settle down, stick to this new podcast, and enjoy it.
That’s why I stopped journaling this week… I just couldn’t focus without finding the perfect podcast first.
