I never finished telling you what happened! Yesterday, I caught up with my sister’s family at her place. We grabbed some hotpot, and after we got back to her house, we decided to put on some Netflix.
I ended up picking an old classic, 'Big' starring Tom Hanks. It’s about a young kid who finds this fortune-teller machine called Zoltar. He puts a coin in and wishes to be 'big,' and—overnight—he literally wakes up as a 30-year-old man.
It’s honestly so funny. You get to see how awkward he is because he looks like a grown man but still has the mind of a 13-year-old. His mom is totally freaked out by this 'stranger' in her house, so he has no choice but to move out and live on his own.
He eventually lands a job at a toy company. Since he’s still a kid at heart and super creative, he actually gets promoted to Vice President of Product Development after just one week! He starts making a ton of money, moves into a huge place, and fills it with toys. He even starts a romance with a coworker named Susan.
But eventually, he realizes he’s not ready to handle the pressure at work, and more importantly, he really misses his old life—like hanging out with his classmates. He finally decides to track down the Zoltar machine so he can turn back into a normal kid.
I’ve rewatched this movie so many times. Tom Hanks's performance is incredible, and it always reminds me to never lose that childlike innocence.
